Foundry VTT Integration
Connect your Foundry world to a ScryRPG party with a one-time install code. Characters, inventory, shops, loot, lore, and encounters sync read-only onto your battlemap.
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Closed Beta
The Foundry module is in closed beta. Join the beta on the ScryRPG Discord and we’ll get you set up; the guide below applies once you have the module.
Overview
Your prep lives in ScryRPG. Game night happens in Foundry. The module connects the two so you stop copying by hand: connect your Foundry world to your ScryRPG party once, and your characters, inventory, shops, loot, lore, and encounters flow onto the battlemap on their own.
The sync is one-way by design. ScryRPG is the source of truth; Foundry receives a live copy. The one deliberate exception is shop purchases made inside Foundry, which write back to ScryRPG and arrive flagged so you can see where they came from.
Where ScryRPG Stops
ScryRPG preps and deploys the encounter. Your table runs the battle wherever it likes: theater of the mind, a VTT, or graph paper. We keep the campaign; the battlemap is yours.
Requirements
- A plan with the VTT integration entitlement. Foundry sync ships with the GM tier. See the Subscription Guide for the current plan comparison.
- A Foundry VTT world you can install modules into.
- A ScryRPG party where you’re the GM.
Installing the Module
- In Foundry, open Add-on Modules and click Install Module.
- Install the module from the manifest link we send beta testers on Discord. Once the beta ends, ScryRPG will be searchable in the package browser.
- Enable it in your world’s module settings.
Listing In Progress
The module’s package-browser listing is rolling out. This guide is updated as the listing goes live, so if the search comes up empty today, check back here for the current install path.
Connecting Your Party
The connection runs on a one-time install code that pairs one Foundry world with one ScryRPG party.
- In ScryRPG, open your party’s integrations settings and generate a Foundry install code.
- In Foundry, open the ScryRPG module settings and paste the code.
- The module connects and runs its first sync. Your party’s content appears in the world.
The code works once. If you need to connect a different world, or you think a code leaked, revoke the connection in integrations settings and issue a fresh one.
What Syncs
Six families of content flow from ScryRPG into Foundry, read-only:
| Family | What arrives in Foundry |
|---|---|
| Characters | Your party’s characters and their current sheets |
| Inventory | What everyone is carrying, kept current |
| Shops | Deployed shops and their stock (purchases made in Foundry write back, flagged) |
| Loot | Deployed loot tables and what’s been claimed |
| Lore & notes | Campaign lore and notes, filtered by who’s allowed to read them |
| Encounters | Deployed encounters, ready for the battlemap |
Encounters on the Battlemap
This is the moment the module was built for. When you deploy an encounter in ScryRPG:
- The creatures materialize as actors in a ScryRPG folder in your world.
- Prototype tokens carry each creature’s art, so what lands on the map looks like what you built.
- A Foundry Combat is created with the initiative that was rolled server-side, the same rolls your players see in the app.
You drag tokens onto the scene and the fight is live. When you end or cancel the encounter in ScryRPG, the module flags the Foundry combat rather than removing it. It never auto-deletes GM content; cleanup is yours to do on your own schedule.
Privacy: GM Truth vs Player View
You connect as the GM and see GM truth. Your players’ Foundry clients get server-filtered player views:
- Health bands instead of exact hit points
- No GM notes
- No hidden content
The filtering happens on the server before anything reaches a player’s machine. There’s no secret data sitting in their client for a curious player to dig out of the console.
Troubleshooting
The sync looks stale. Reconnect the module in its settings to trigger a fresh sync.
I need to revoke access. Revoke the connection from your party’s integrations settings in ScryRPG, then issue a new install code when you’re ready to reconnect.
Someone’s role changed. Role changes (a player stepping up as GM, a co-GM stepping down) take effect on the next sync, not instantly. Trigger a sync if you need it now.
Common Questions
Is the sync two-way? No, and that’s deliberate. ScryRPG stays the source of truth so nothing you prep gets silently overwritten from the table. The single exception is shop purchases made in Foundry, which write back flagged.
Can players connect too? Yes. Player clients receive the server-filtered player view described above. What they see in Foundry matches what they’d see in the app.
Will the module delete things in my world? No. Ending or cancelling an encounter in ScryRPG flags the Foundry combat; nothing is auto-deleted.
Bring Your Prep to the Table
Connect once, and the encounter you balanced on Tuesday is on the battlemap Friday night, tokens, art, initiative and all.
